I ordered a MacBook Air from Fingerhut in January 2013, in May i had to bring it in to Apple to be serviced as the keyboard lighting was not working. I noticed on the paperwork the warranty date read 09/23/12, that made no sense being i purchased the computer in 01/13.

The reps at apple told me to call Apple Care and they will take care of it with the proof of purchase. I called Apple Care, they found my system and the serial number and after 15 minutes they come back and tell me that the MacBook Air i got was a refurb and that the original purchase date was 09/23/12. I AM SO PISSED! I called FingerHut and they are "investigating" they do NOT advertise computers as refurbished, nor does it state anywhere on there website that's what they sell.

The CSR Manager told me directly when i called to complain that they don't sell refurbs and i must have gotten misleading information from Apple. I highly doubt that, so now they are investigating and if it does come back as a refurb computer they better comply with my demand and compensate me for half of the monies that i spent on it.

I can not believe their deciving practice. I know this is a refurb otherwise why would Apple have all that previous information and Serial Number as registered as such.

Monetary Loss: $1149.

Location: Denver, Colorado

my dad just bought an macbook air from the apple store when he went into the active terminal of the computer he noticed it had been used and the someone or some company (Apple) tried to wipe it clean. he brought it back and they stated if a device is returned within two weeks Apple wipes it clean refurbs it and sells it.

My dad returned it for a new one. Also his imac desktop had a sell date of 6 months before he bought it because it too was refurbed- they all do it and it is wrong!!!

Wire fraud and mail fraud charges should've been brought against Fingerhut in this instance. You need to contact your local police dept and local FBI office.

If it was sent via USPS the Postal Inspectors would be very interested in pursuing this. This doesn't seem to be an isolated incident either.

I've read a number of complaints were buyers electronic purchases are malfunctioning once received or within a couple months.

To get things moving against these *** everyone needs to file complaints with the MN Attorney General's Office, the FTC and in this case the FBI's IC3 Internet Crime Complaint Center and USPS Postal Inspectors.
